Work continues to cover the Metropolitan Market in via Giordano with greenery, one of the stages of the Prato Urban Jungle project of the Municipality of Prato: a special load arrived this morning in the heart of Macrolotto Zero with over 500 plants both for the interior and for the exterior of the structure has a function that is not only aesthetic, but also air purification.
As is known, the intervention inside the market is made up of four types of systems in which tree species are the protagonists: ground tanks, suspended tanks, the green wall and the Air Factory, i.e. a vegetal bio-filtration system in capable of responding efficiently, in a sustainable manner, to the need for air purification in indoor environments.
The Air Factory uses a plant filtration technology developed by Pnat (Project Nature) which significantly amplifies the natural ability of plants to absorb and degrade both inorganic (carbon dioxide, nitrogen compounds, fine particles) and organic airborne pollutants . Everything will have adequate drainage mechanisms for excess water through drainage pipes connected to the network. Following the natural cycle of plants, this is the right period for planting. The set-up work will be completed in the spring.
In the creation of the Metropolitan Market, two projects of the Municipality of Prato intersect: Prato Urban Jungle, which aims to bring back greenery to highly urbanized areas to make them more beautiful but also more sustainable, and the Urban Innovation Plan, co-financed by the Tuscany Region, which has given a new public function to a former dilapidated production building, together with the Medialibrary and the playground.
