Approved by the municipal council 2 preliminary projects of Prato Urban Jungle, and the municipality of Prato relaunches with a new pilot area in addition.

The municipal council approved the two preliminary projects of Prato Urban Jungle that insist on the two areas of competence of the municipality in via Turchia  and at Macrolotto Zero:

  • the intervention on the buildings of Edilizia Pubblica Pratese of via Turchia  is curated by the Studio Stefano Boeri Architetti and involves the facades of the three multi-storey residential buildings, providing innovative green solutions and systems of sunscreen to increase thermal comfort, the internal garden usable for the community and the transformation of the car park into a green permeable area;
  • at Macrolotto Zero, with the reconversion, curated by PNAT, of the former industrial area of the covered market into a large internal green space and a large external green facade. The interiors will thus host a real Air Factory, that is an indoor greenhouse able to purify the air with the plants, that will be combined with an innovative space for refreshment, in which the citizens will be able to meet fully immersed in the green of the plants.

The Municipality of Prato relaunches the overall project by expanding the range of urban jungle interventions and entrusting PNAT with the design of an additional pilot site located in the commercial area of via delle Pleiadi, between Unicoop and Omnia Center. PNAT will carry out an innovative green and food-related project that will activate new functions in the developing green area.
Despite the slowdowns created by the COVID-19 emergency, the municipality confirmed - in its capacity as project leader - that all activities are going ahead and all partners are gradually catching up.
