The Municipality of Prato is among the 100 cities selected by the European Commission for the Mission "100 Climate-Neutral and Smart European cities".

The choice of Prato as an ecosystem of experimentation and innovation - with eight other cities in Italy - rewards the work carried out by the Municipality of Prato in recent years on planning many active projects on the themes of sustainability, energy, transport, sustainable mobility.

The European ​Commission will invite 100 cities to sign "The Climate City Contracts" and to develop a master plan for climate neutrality across various sectors such as energy, buildings, waste management and transport, together with a related investment plans: this process will involve citizens, research organizations and the private sector.
